FAQ’s
How long does it take to switch suppliers?
This can depend on the end date of your current contract, but you can register with a new supplier within 28 days of your contract coming to an end.
Can I cancel my current contract?
Once you have started a business energy contract you cannot just cancel. Business electricity rates are priced differently, as basically the provider will estimate how much electricity you will use and they will buy that in bulk. It is important you make sure the contract is right for you before you take it out.
What is a fixed tariff?
A fixed tariff is great for businesses that prioritise financial security. The price of your electricity will remain the same throughout the period of the contract, which means you always know exactly how much you are paying out.
What is a variable tariff?
This is different from a fixed tariff and your electricity prices will change alongside the energy market. On some occasions you will be paying more than expected, other times you may pay more. There is more of a risk to it than a fixed tariff, but you can benefit from it.
What are fixed term contracts?
This means your contract will be set for a specified period of time. You can choose either, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 year contracts.
How can I reduce my electricity bills?
Switching energy providers is not the only way you can save money on your energy bills. You can make your business more energy efficient, there are many ways you can do this, including switching to energy saving light bulbs.
How do I know when my business electricity contract is coming to an end?
You can check your most recent energy bill as the end date should be stated there. This means you know when it is time to shop around for your next contract.
Why has my current supplier objected to the switch?
The most common reason for this is that there is a debt on your account. Once you have settled this debt you can then go ahead and switch to another supplier.
